Fran Powers

My work has always encompassed organic forms derived from nature. Living in Florida, with an abundance of flora and fauna is inspirational for my work. The work is mixed media. I begin with a photograph (or a combination of photographs) that I have taken, then completely re-work the image on the computer using Corel Painter, Paintstorm, Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint Shop Pro. I then print it out and using colored pencils or oil pastels, complete the work.

Some of my work incorporates architectural forms, and some just flora or the landscape. The work is not meant to be a realistic rendering, but more of a stylized composition of form and color.
