I believe that good art comes from a sincere excitement about your subject matter and being able to capture that feeling or mood on canvas. Although I cover a variety of subjects, one of the most fascinating things in a painting, in my opinion, is light and shadow. Something new is learned with each painting that leaves me anxious to try the next one. When the work is finally finished, dry, and framed, nothing is more satisfying to me than to have a person walk away from one of my paintings with a smile, an old memory, or perhaps just some nice warm feelings.
