Some viewers would say my art is impressionistic; some see it as semi-abstract. I love that it has that duality. My artwork is reflective of an impressionistic style but is often rendered with mixed media techniques to add a fresh, contemporary twist. Landscapes are my favorite subject–interpreted with the feelings and memory that emerge as I paint…and some are just from my imagination. My abstracts and florals reflect my eclectic interests in styles and genres of art.
Using mixed media processes and creative tools as well as traditional brushes allows me to explore my subject by adding texture and layers to my paintings. I often create my own collage pieces to add subtle dimensions. I paint mostly in acrylic but enjoy oil and cold wax for their visceral and experimental nature.
