Janet Mishner

I enjoy painting both figurative and abstract compositions. What remains common in both is my inspiration which is not by direct observation but rather reflections about current situations or ideas. Most recently, I continue to paint abstractly using a grid structure. A priority in my work is that I leave much information out, so that a viewer might resonate in a personal way. I have been called a narrative painter when working figuratively, yet many have had completely different ideas about the “story” being told. I celebrate this response! Both my studio and residence are in Sarasota, Florida, where I am often inspired by the beauty that surrounds me. It often appears indirectly in my work.
