My passion for mixed-media printmaking is a lifelong pursuit. I grew up in Peru where I earned a BA in Printmaking/Drawing. Later, was granted with a full scholarship to earn a Master degree in Fine Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Also had received others Art grants from institutions.
I became an art educator and have been in the educational arena for more than 30 years, but printmaking was always part of my life’s vision.
I like to challenge and push conventional boundaries of printmaking, from traditional printmaking on paper to 3D installations. Engage it on a transformative quality and contemporary vision.
I used to focus on the female body, creating a dialogue which involves references, connotations and metaphors through printmaking. My work evolved to include diverse pliable materials that are a resourceful take on printmaking beside paper. I combined printmaking with metals, clay and fabric, as a new way to engage in dialogue among these mediums and to produce multi-media artwork
Recently I am exploring new interpretations of nature through printmaking and bookmaking. Like different layers create dimension on a print, likewise layering is intrinsic to nature. The interaction with space and the use of three dimensional media in bookmaking enhance the idea of layers in nature. This art form allows me to infuse personal narrative and creative expression; I encounter a deep connection between printmaking and book art.
Books become an intimate conversation between the viewer and the creator, as the pages unfold the content comes to life

Originally I was an abstract oil painter. Intuitively I would add more paint, movement, shape and texture to the work. As the piece developed, the color would bring me into the painting. My work was emotionally expressive, pressing my feelings out onto the canvas. Now, drawing with pastels my work is more about deliberate choices. My painting compositions reflect my stories about travel, love and family. My inspiration is derived from mother nature, learning and exploring the world outside myself as well as my internal journey of self-reflection.
