Karen Davenport

Ever since early childhood, I have loved to create art. I started art classes very young, then continued studying pastels & oils under an artist mentor, while attending classes at RI School of Design, and in 1998 got my BFA from Ringling College of Art & Design.

I received The Presidential Scholarship from Ringling which was a very proud moment for me especially since I went back to college at 40 years old. I really love pastel as a medium because of their rich colors and application. I also enjoy painting in acrylics after decades of years using oils.

As a semi-retired artist, I’d like to focus on creating art that brings me joy in various mediums. I hope to take more classes and develop new ideas and techniques. I’m happy I joined WCA to surround myself with like-minded women.
