Marsha Schamber

My art reflects my life. I make art intuitively, abstractly basing my work on my own experiences. I work on several pieces at once, allowing each work to inform the next. In my early adult life, I worked on cell-type forms. Themes of organisms permeated my compositions. As I grew more and more fascinated with reproduction in my art work, my personal life gave way to the birth of my first daughter. My drawings and collages emanated these new womb-type forms as I began to relish the world nourishing and nurturing my children. Transformation and metamorphosis are now center stage. My work is spontaneous and still simple, it is a chronicle of my world that I hope has a universal application. It is a reflection of one’s personal power to observe, create, and nurture life while beholding the perfect elegance of transformation.
