My career began as a textile designer, a path that reflected my lifelong love of color, pattern, and fabric. The principles of textile design—rhythm, repetition, and rich color relationships—continue to influence my work today.
Alongside my design career, I have always been passionate about oil painting and drawing. Many of my earlier paintings were inspired by places I traveled to and were rendered in a realistic style. Over time, my work has evolved toward a more stylized and imaginative approach. While still inspired by landscapes and memories of place, my paintings now incorporate a simplified, decorative quality reminiscent of textiles, blending elements of fantasy with pattern and color.
I have exhibited my work in several art shows, and I am currently exhibiting in a gallery in New Jersey.
Originally I was an abstract oil painter. Intuitively I would add more paint, movement, shape and texture to the work. As the piece developed, the color would bring me into the painting. My work was emotionally expressive, pressing my feelings out onto the canvas. Now, drawing with pastels my work is more about deliberate choices. My painting compositions reflect my stories about travel, love and family. My inspiration is derived from mother nature, learning and exploring the world outside myself as well as my internal journey of self-reflection.
