I like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain. I am not into yoga. Oh wait, no I definitely don’t like pina coladas or getting caught in the rain. And I’ve never tried yoga, so maybe I would like it. What I absolutely do enjoy is art, music, food, wine and traveling. My current mediums of choice are acrylic painting, mixed media, collage and photography. My most recent series of mixed media work is pieces that are inspired by song lyrics. Music is a huge part of my life, as an appreciator of it, not as a musician. Sadly, I have zero musical ability. Which is a bit of a disappointment to me as I know that if I did, I would most certainly be a rockstar. Oh well. Instead I will create art that is filled with imagery that comes to me from the lyrics and music of others. Two of my most recent works – “Roll With the Changes” and “Strange Brew” are 30″x40″ pieces that also are equipped with a speaker and push button that allow the viewer to listen to 30 seconds of the song. Although the first piece I did in the series did not have this feature, the ones to come will. I look forward to seeing these pieces come to life.

Originally I was an abstract oil painter. Intuitively I would add more paint, movement, shape and texture to the work. As the piece developed, the color would bring me into the painting. My work was emotionally expressive, pressing my feelings out onto the canvas. Now, drawing with pastels my work is more about deliberate choices. My painting compositions reflect my stories about travel, love and family. My inspiration is derived from mother nature, learning and exploring the world outside myself as well as my internal journey of self-reflection.
