Diane Wallace
Formerly a dedicated self-taught watercolor artist, I am retired from the “business” of art. Consequently, my current work is now free from the restraints of commissions, collectors and teaching. This newfound freedom has resulted in “Restless Artist Syndrome” defined as trying, learning and exploring anything crossing my path that sparks a fascination.
My toolbox now includes acrylics, mixed media, and collage, in addition to watercolor, but my subjects will always be in keeping with my mission statement for my life. Beauty, fun, and a love of nature are all key to a well-lived day for me, and, therefore, reflected in my work.
My biggest accomplishment is putting a little heart in my art.

Originally I was an abstract oil painter. Intuitively I would add more paint, movement, shape and texture to the work. As the piece developed, the color would bring me into the painting. My work was emotionally expressive, pressing my feelings out onto the canvas. Now, drawing with pastels my work is more about deliberate choices. My painting compositions reflect my stories about travel, love and family. My inspiration is derived from mother nature, learning and exploring the world outside myself as well as my internal journey of self-reflection.
