A Critique Group (“Lunch Critique”) meets on the first Monday of each month at the home of a member volunteer. The group meets between 11:00 and 11:30 for lunch followed by critique of members’ work. The schedule of meetings and general supervision of the meetings is done by the Lunch Critique Committee.

The schedule of meetings and directions to meeting locations is published in the News Updates , through the web site, and by e-mail to members. If you plan to attend, please respond directly to the hostess to make sure there is room for you. Guests of members are welcome to attend but may not present work or participate in the critique.

Information about Lunch Critique can be found on the Members Only page.

A four-day Artist Retreat is held each Fall usually in October at DaySpring Center in Ellenton, Florida. Attendance is open to members only and members must commit to and pay for the entire package. Fees, special activities and general arrangements are handled by the Retreat Committee with the supervision of the Board. Day visitors are not allowed.

Additional information about the Retreat will be sent to all members.

In December, the monthly meeting is a celebration of the holiday season. This festive event is presented at a place determined by the Board. Members are asked to bring goodies to share. Members are urged to contribute small art-related, unwrapped toys for children which we donate to at a local charity.

New members are welcomed at this meeting and introduced. Each new member is asked to give a brief description of themselves as artists and present a sample of their current work. The program is managed by the Membership Committee.

A special event introducing new officers and honoring the year’s Scholarship recipient is held as the last meeting before Summer break. An ad hoc Committee manages this event and is held at the home of a member volunteer. The Scholarship Committee presents the program.

New members are welcomed at this meeting and introduced. Each new member is asked to give a brief description of themselves as artists and present a sample of their current work.

• See the latest News Updates on the Members Only page for information and directions on the upcoming Lunch Critique.
• We always meet on the first Monday of each month, unless it is a holiday week, like January New Years, 4th of July and September Labor Day.
• Please always notify the hostess that you want to come (RSVP) and then only arrive if she tells you she has room for you.
• Space is limited. Lunch Critique is only for members (and their guests, if there is room).
• Summer Lunch Critique holds about 15 people, while gatherings during season often hold 20-25.
• Please arrive between 11:00 am and 11:30 am with a bag lunch and a painting or two which you would like to have critiqued. While we eat lunch it is great to share announcements, photos of finished paintings, and other information.
• Critique time is a precious, professional time of trust, opening ourselves to the input of our fellow artists who help our work to say what we want to say. It is a wonderful community to be a part of!

Due to the Corona Virus the 2020 annual WCA Exhibition has been cancelled. Please check back for more info. Thank you!
