I have loved paintings and Art since my Humanities courses in college.  But being an artist was not on my mind.   I taught elementary school children for several years, followed by a satisfying 2nd career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  For many years I was a photographer as a hobby. Without realizing it, I was using artistic techniques to photograph the world, near and far—framing and composing my photos as my world and experiences expanded.  I have enlarged many of my photos and they are hanging in my home as well as my children’s homes.

I started painting as I neared retirement the winter before Covid.  I became “addicted” to painting immediately.  I loved familiarizing myself with different mediums by watching many tutorials on YouTube. I painted every day all day during quarantine. I felt adventurous and creative while using pastels, watercolors, and moving on to acrylics and mixed medium.  I still enjoy all these mediums.  I’m inspired by the beauty of nature, my extensive travels, and objects in my home and walks in neighborhoods I’ve lived in.  Painting feels like meditation to me;  Very relaxing and also exhilarating;  Challenging and satisfying; Always a growing process.
