I am passionate about the creative and technical processes involved in capturing photographs and preparing them for display,
books, or online. My primary focus is street and urban photography. The way of the street photographer—a discovery (and editing) process, as compared to say, a traditional process,
of creating from a blank canvas—intrigues me more than any other artistic endeavor I’ve tried.
I find weirdness and humor within our built environments—imperious signs and symbols, street items resembling Renaissance drapery, mysterious imprints left by
nature and people. Indeed, fact is often stranger than fiction.
Having said all that, i was recently injured and wasn’t able to shoot out there in the wild so i tried some still life photography,
which i’m now interested in exploring! I love printing and use an inkjet printer, enhancing my photos with Lightroom and Photoshop. I dabble in newer AI capabilities, but I don’t use them to significantly alter my work.
I’ve had a camera in my hand since the age of 12. I pursued degrees in photography during my college and grad school years and worked as a professional graphic designer for three decades. Currently, I am re-engaging with photography. In 2024, I held a solo exhibition at the Lexow Gallery of the UUSRQ. Additionally, I have participated in numerous group exhibitions at the Art Center Sarasota, receiving honorable mentions and merit awards in two of those shows. I've also served as interim chairperson of the UUSRQ arts council.
