The subject matter of my artwork is eclectic and inspired by memorable experiences drawn from foreign travel, nature, my daughter and grandchildren, flowers, and local farmers’ markets. I also enjoy folkloric art and the stories they tell. In my own work, I often seek to reinterpret the themes, myths, motifs, and cultural references that I find so appealing.
Typically, I have always worked in watercolor, however, in recent months have begun to experiment as well with mixed media and collage. This is a new experience for me and I am enjoying the challenge of creating art utilizing a variety of different materials ranging from inks to fabrics, paper, and glue. My artwork tends to be bright, colorful, cheerful, and often playful. Whether watercolor or collage, I hope to convey the inherent beauty of the media, its immediacy, lightness, and sparkle.
